Coverage of the May 8th DAR Meeting

Pat Hairston of Carolina Canines and service dog Angel gave a very moving and informative oral and slide presentation of service dogs for veterans at our May 8th DAR meeting.  The dogs are trained by military prisoners.  Angel showed us some of the things these dogs learn to be helpful to our injured veterans.

Gwen Causey recognized Carol Jutte, Rhonda Amato and Ella Maugans for serving as Pages at the State meeting and presented them with pictures of all the Pages.

The new DAR  members were sworn in and presented with a DAR pin.
They are L to R: Dianna Conaty, Chris Frazier, Pat Johnson and Kathy Miller.

Nora Hickam, State Americanism chair asked DAR members of the Brunswick Town chapter to take a picture of a flag in your yard, on your car, a pin or earrings you may wear or whatever and send it to her.  She is going to put together an album for next year’s State meeting.  She also reported she is going to Tennessee to mark a grave and will dress up as Martha Washington.  Nora reported that we will be purchasing refreshments for the Naturalization Ceremony in Southport and passed around a signup sheet for help for a few hours on Wednesday, July 3rd.  She will be dressing up in period clothing and invites others to do the same.
