In Remembrance of Patricia French Johnson

We end the year by remembering a very special DAR daughter who has passed away. A memorial service was held at our February 9th meeting for Patricia French Johnson.  She joined our chapter on 13  December 2013. Following are excerpts from her published obituary. Patricia Ann French Johnson, 82, of Oak Island, was born March 24, 1939 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to the late Roger E. French and Florabelle Walker French. Patricia was a retired school teacher, having taught elementary and middle school in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the NEA and PSEA. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Clarion State University in Pennsylvania and a master's degree at Indiana University Pennsylvania. Patricia was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She belonged to the Brunswick Town Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Oak Island. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, the Elks Lodge, and the Moose. After retiring from teaching in 1997, Patricia moved to Oak Island. Some of her favorite things to do were to sit on the beach, spend time with her beloved Westies and her granddaughters, visit Walt Disney World, and travel to Aruba each year. In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her brothers William, Robert, and Roger French; her former husband, Raymond Johnson; and her daughter, Heather Wolosyn. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Ronald) Weathers of Columbia, Maryland, and her son, Scott Johnson, of Oak Island, North Carolina; as well as her three granddaughters, Kaitlin and Shannon Weathers, and Melanie Wolosyn.
