Brunswick Town DAR Member Margaret Allison Celebrated Her 100th Birthday on May 12th


Brunswick Town DAR member Margaret Allison celebrated her 100th birthday on May 12, 2019. The DAR chapter board members helped Margaret celebrate in her home in Oak Island with a cake, flowers, card and a certificate.  She has been a member since February 2, 2008. A fun time was had by all.

North Carolina Cordon Street Endowment Gift Scholarships are Sophia Rupkalvis and Robert Campbell Woody.

The Brunswick Town Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution is proud to announce this year’s winners of the North Carolina Cordon Street Endowment Gift Scholarships are Sophia Rupkalvis and Robert Campbell Woody.  Sophia is the daughter of Colonel James Rupkalvis and Colleen Rupkalvis from Southport, and Robert is the son of James and Heather Woody from Oak Island.  Sophia Rupkalvis will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Robert Campbell Woody will be attending North Carolina State in the fall.  Both students attend South Brunswick High School.
Amanda Ellinger, State DAR Scholarship chairman in Raleigh awarded state scholarships of $2,000 at the North Carolina State DAR Convention on April 27th to Sophia and Robert. Brunswick Town Chapter awards of $100 were presented at the South Brunswick High School Awards Night May 14th. 
Out of the over 60 participants from all over the state and 12 outstanding seniors from Brunswick County, South Brunswick High was honored with having both state scholarship winners.   The Brunswick Chapter of DAR is especially proud to have Sophia and Robert as winners from their chapter.
