Chapter Honors Veterans




On Veterans Day, November 11th Pat Gooding and Ella Maugans and Regent Carol Jutte visited Universal Health Care & Shallotte Autumn Care Nursing Homes and presented American flags and pins to the 18 veterans  there. Shown below holding a flag is Julian Maugans, WWII Navy Veteran.

Chapter Members Tour Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson


On a beautiful, warm and sunny day in November, our chapter toured Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson. Jim McKee personally led the group through the grounds of this historic place explaining each historic stop along the way. Members were able to ask questions about the museum, church, ruins of the town and cemetery. Thank you, Jim McKee for a wonderfully informative tour! The group then enjoyed lunch in Southport.






Veterans Honored at November Meeting


At our November chapter meeting with 74 in attendance, we honored 12 Vietnam Veterans with certificates and pins. The veterans were from, NC, OH and Alaska with one of the veterans a Sentry War dog.

Jack Lambert November Meeting Guest Speaker


Mr. Jack Lambert, husband of member Cheri Lambert and a Vietnam Veteran, presented an informative slide- show presentation of life in Vietnam during the war. The pictures vividly captured his personal experience as a Commanding Officer in the Signal Corp.


Bill Hogue, Receives Prestigious Community Service Award





Stephanie Hosid presented the Community Service Award to Bill Hogue, Director of Southport-Oak Island Interfaith Fellowship Food Pantry. The award is given annually to individuals who have served our community in an outstanding way. Congratulations to Bill Hogue!

Brunswick Town Chapter Donates Books to Literacy Council




The Brunswick Town Chapter, NSDAR recently delivered the first collection of books donated by chapter members to the Brunswick Literacy Council to assist with their Holiday Book Share. Program. Literary Council Executive Director Dot Hoerr (shown on left), was presented with 106 books and 69 magazines by Carol Hart, DAR Chapter Literacy Promotion Chair.  The books and magazines were donated by Brunswick Town Chapter members and are given to children in local schools as Christmas gifts in connection with Brunswick Family Assistance.  Adults and children at Hope Harbor will also be recipients of the donated books.  The books will provide an enjoyable incentive to students and adults to engage in reading this Holiday Season!
