Congratulations Pina Hanford a Wonderful Chapter in Your Life

Pina Hanford is of Sicilian descent. She migrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she met her husband Peter through mutual friends from a church back in 2004. Then, decided to marry in September 2006. She is a lab technician by trade but has been raising three children for the past nine years.  She is happy to see the journey her life has taken. Pina has been married to Peter for 13 years this coming September. They have three children; Gianna eight, Domenic seven, and Alessia five.  She has been living in Jacksonville, NC. since April 2007. Just this past February 2019, Pina submitted her application for Citizenship.

Pena had to shorten the family annual two-week trip to visit to her parents in Canada, to make it to the Naturalization Ceremony. They arrived on July 2nd at 8pm. It was a given that they would do all that it took to be here for the ceremony.  They spent quality time with her parents and her dad who was diagnosed with dementia. He was whistling an old Italian classic "Tu vuò fà americano" (You wanna be Americano), not realizing what was to be. It was quite fitting for this chapter in her life.
Brunswick Town DAR member Phyllis Wilson, interviewed Pina Harford, while her husband Peter across the room where the relatives and friends were seated took the above photo.

Rick was visiting the crew in the kitchen to see if we needed any assistance.

Difficult problem solved by Peggy, Carol and Pat - how to dump too many potato chips into one bag. Another bag was quickly secured and it all fit in the two bags. That is what is called team work.

The newly naturalized citizens, friends and family members enjoyed the variety of snacks provided by our chapter. Kudos to Maxine  McCullar and her staff of DAR ladies that helped.
