DAR member and basket weaver Ann Warren presented a very
interesting program on basket weaving at the May 9th DAR meeting at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, NC. She brought many samples of her
beautiful baskets. Ann first became interested in basket weaving 40 years ago.
She studied Nantucket Basket weaving and expanded her interest to making Shaker
and miniature baskets. She attended the John C. Campbell Folk School in
Brasstown NC. Ann is a member of the Port City Basket Guild and the NC
Basketmakers Association. She has organized a guild for Nantucket basket
weavers in Eastern North Carolina. She has taught reed basket weaving locally
at Brunswick Community College. Ann is a recipient of two Brunswick Arts
Council grants to advance her skills, she continues to teach, collect, and
