Our new board for the Brunswick Town DAR Chapter has been in office for 7 months. They are celebrating the Brunswick Town Chapter's Birthday of 48 years. Now look at the photo below and almost the same group of ladies are there and look how happy they appear in the top photo. Perhaps the jobs that they have taken all agree with them. Seeing a smile does improve a photo. So remember to look as happy as can be when being photographed.
You may not be a native of Brunswick County, but our January speaker is, and he will delight you with details of this community that you did not know or never would have known without his knowledge. Bobby Williamson was born and raised in Shallotte. Bobby is the 8th generation of his family to live in the Shallotte area, as he hails from the Milliken family, which were the first Europeans to inhabit this area. A graduate of Shallotte High School in 1972 and UNCW in 1976 with a degree in chemistry, the course of Bobby’s life changed quickly when his father Glen’s plane crashed on the way back from a race in Rockingham. Bobby owns Bobby’s Auto Parts on Main Street in Shallotte. He and his wife Donna have one daughter, Suzanne (Suzy), who is the CEO of Wilmington Health. He’s currently an elected Board of Alderman for the Town of Shallotte and a Methodist Lay Speaker. He’s known as the area’s premier historian. He loves shooting photos of the region’s birds, like the Osprey, the Roseate Spoonbill, or the Wood Stork. His family has been involved in auto racing. And yes, his uncle was Odell Williamson who founded Ocean Isle Beach.
The above information was provided by our DAR Brunswick Town public relations chair.
