Commemorative Events Chair Norma Eckard had a
display honoring Presidents Lincoln and Washington. She spoke about Frank Buckles who was the
last surviving veteran of WWI. Mr.
Buckles passed away last February at the age of 110. Norma’s husband Ron’s book on his family genealogy
has been published. The State Historic
Preservation Office in Raleigh is considering the Bunker/Rifle Pit as an
historic site.
