This is the certificate Brunswick Town received for a Tri-Color award for Chapter Achievement at State Conference this year.


The installation of new officers was held.  Gwen Causey filling in for Diane Kuebert, Chaplain, installed the following officers:  Carol Jutte, Vice Regent;  Kathy Miller, Chaplain; Nancy Mazzei, Treasurer; Cindy Sellers, Registrar; Pat Gooding, Historian; Diane Price, Librarian.  Diane Kuebert, Regent, will be installed at Continental Congress in June and Lynn Deen, Recording and Corresponding Secretary, will be installed at the first meeting in September.

Martha Koletar's Grand Niece, Cassie McKee sang The Star Spangled Banner to begin the DAR Meeting/Luncheon held on May 13th at the Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, NC.

Jim McKee, Site Manager at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson was the guest speaker at the DAR May Meeting held at the Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, NC

Betsy Hamer introduced Aaron Fenninger, Field Representative, Woodmen of the World, who presented a U.S. Flag and a North Carolina State Flag with staffs and stands to BrunswickTown-Fort Anderson. Betsy Hamer contacted the company when she discovered the historic site had no American or North Carolina State Flag.

Lori Sanderlin, Curator of Education, for the Maritime Museum in Southport.  The Museum received a matching grant of $1700 from NSDAR that will be used for an exhibit “Along the Cape Fear”.  The exhibit will include a life size mannequin of a woman in authentic colonial costume and tell the story of the importance of tar and turpentine along the Cape Fear.  The exhibit will open in June 2016. The chapter sponsored the Museum’s grant for matching funds.

Memorial Day Wreath Laying


Plan to join The Richard H. Stewart, Jr. American Legion Post 543 at the Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday (5/25) beginning at 11:00 AM at the SJ Veterans Memorial adjacent to SJ Town Hall.  Colors will be presented by the Post 543 Honor Guard.  The ceremony will include guest speaker U.S. Representative David Rouzer, 7th Congressional District of N.C. and music performance by the Sea Notes Choral Society.  Seating will be available for all attendees.  Parking is limited and carpooling to the event is encouraged.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place inside the SJ Community Center.  Information from John Muuss(910) 253-3243.
