High School Essay Contest in October!
The Brunswick Town Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution invite all High School students to participate in the Christopher
Columbus Essay Contest. There will be an Essay Contest winner at the Chapter,
State, Division and National levels. At the National level second and third
place winners are also selected. The National 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners
will receive cash awards. The National winner will also receive paid lodging
and transportation to Washington DC in October 2017 for him or herself and
parent or guardian. The National winner must read the prize winning essay at
the Columbus Memorial, Washington DC on Columbus Day, October 10, 2017.
The topic for the 2016-2017 Christopher Columbus Essay Contest is
“Technological advances have greatly changed our world since the voyages of
Christopher Columbus. If Christopher Columbus had just some of the technology
we have today in 2016, how might this have changed his planning and carrying
out of his voyages: What technological advances would have been most beneficial
to Christopher Columbus?”
