Volunteers to clean Saturday, June 24, 2017

Regent Carol Jutte writes, "The Southport Historical Society and the Southport Beautification Committee will sponsor a clean-up of the Old Smithville Burying Grounds, located at the corner of Moore and Rhett Streets in downtown Southport, starting at 9 am on Saturday, June 24. All are welcome to join in this annual clean-up effort in preparation for the town's Fourth of July festivities. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, brooms, gloves, insect repellent.
Those in attendance will also place American flags at grave sites. Water will be provided and any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. More information call 910-454-0437 I plan to be there about 8:45 am. Come join me for DAR "Service to America" and placing flags on veterans graves."
