Michael Elliot presented a program on the use of parachute jumping to help veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder at the February 11th DAR meeting.



The February 11, 2015 DAR Brunswick Town Chapter meeting was held at Brunswick Electric in Shallotte, NC. The guest speaker was Michael Elliot and Louise Cantrell.

Michael Elliot, tandem jumped with President Bush three times, presented a program on the use of parachute jumping to help veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD is a mental health disorder. It is a condition that's triggered by a terrifying event- either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, uncontrollable thought about the event. He is the founder of “All Veteran Parachute Team”.  Louise Cantrell, who went through the program, explained how it helped her after the loss of her husband and two daughters in a tragic fire.  Louise also talked about the foundation “Dancing Angels” that she has founded to honor her daughters. The chapter gave Mr. Elliot a donation to his foundation along with member’s personal donations to both Mr. Elliot and Louise Cantrell’s foundations.

that she has founded to honor her daughters.
