On April 13, 2011 The Brunswick Town Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented Essay Contest Awards to three students. Doris N. Thompson, American history chair, presented the awards and medals to three students of Smith Home School in Brunswick County. The siblings are: Brittany Smith grade 5. Her essay was about “Memoirs of Paul Revere.” The Essay winner from grade 9 was Cordell Smith and grade 11 was Brandon Smith. Their topic was “Lessons from Christopher Columbus’ Life."
