DAR Members Participated in The Royal Order of the Honorary St. James Oyster Restoration This Summer


The 12th annual oyster event was held on Friday, July 2, 2018 and progress was made on our Living Shore. Oyster shells were bagged, and a new shoreline will be built, and 3,000 Spartina Alterniflora and Patens will be planted to strengthen i

Our Brunswick Town DAR Members, Regent Carol Jutte, Mary Sands and Kathy John Johnson along with St. James residents, UNCW Benthic Ecoclogy Lab graduates and undergraduate students, UNCW Ocean 17 campers and Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home youth helped to plant 2,400 plus of Spartina Alterniflora Grass and add 400 bags of oyster shells to the existing reefs at Waterway Park in St. James on July 21. This was the second project hosted by the Royal Order of the Honorary St. James Oyster this summer.
