Rick Sessa, member of American Legion Post 454 read an article in the newspaper that Charles Brice received an award for community service from The Brunswick Town Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and then the DAR presented Charles with a Second Place award from the state for Community Service.
In the article it was mentioned that Charles could use additional skeins of red, white and blue yarn to continue crocheting afghans for the Veterans in Fayetteville, NC. Prior to this Charles crocheted blankets for Military personnel deployed to Afghanistan. His request was answered by the Oak Island American Legion Post 454. Jimmy Creech prepared a gift card for Charles to purchase more yarn and the Post members purchased enough yarn to keep him busy for a while. They asked him to donate a blanket, which they raffled off at their November 6th NC District Meeting. All the proceeds went for more yarn to crochet afghans.
